I love RocketNews24’s entries on latte art (like this one: http://tinyurl.com/pl8l6mp) and decided it would probably look great in clay as well! The key concept was to show contrast between two different textures; a heavy and shiny polymer clay versus a light and fluffy paper clay. Pease note that if you mix types of clay, you should BAKE the polymer clay but DO NOT bake the air dry clay. Air-dry clay will simply dry on it’s own (as the name obviously suggests) and baking that will cause it to burn or melt.

I was very pleased with how this turned out and it was surprisingly easy to get the realistic coffee effect. You simply need a bit of patience when texturing the milk foam and smooth it down slightly with your fingers. I recommend using pastel dust/Tamiya baking master for the details instead of real paint because you want to keep the chalky, powdery feel of coffee. If you want to make this for rings, jewellery or craft fairs then you can always use children’s teaparty cups or dollhouse teacups to save time! And of course, you can make the milk part into any animal you like, just check out the link above for inspiration.
