Copal Handling Systems – unloading jute bags with coffee beans at Nestlé Mexico

Copal Handling Systems, headquartered in the Netherlands, develops and manufactures container-unloading and palletizing systems. With these unique and innovative systems, floor loaded containers can be unloaded without any physical effort. Our Copal container unloading system is a unique and innovative solution for a known worldwide problem: heavy physical work when unloading and palletizing bags from containers.

Nestlé, the largest food company in the world and leader in the field of Nutrition, Health & Wellness is using in their Toluca plant in Mexico the Copal C2 solution for the automatic unloading and palletizing of jute bags filled with coffee beans. Since the installation of the 3 systems at the end of 2015, more than 1 million bags have been unloaded semi-automatic. The system is equipped with an innovative Spidergripper that collects and deposits the bags on an extendible conveyor. Sensors ensure the automatic positioning of this gripper.

The partnership with Copal allows Nestlé to create value for their society with its mission “Good Food, Good Life”. Concretely this means the employees of Nestlé are not burdened with heavy physical labour. The number of injuries has been reduced dramatically by using the Copal system. In addition, the automated sampling and disapproval of bags improve quality assurance.
