If you can work around problems it is usable, exception you can’t get parts and service is very expensive
Positive Product Points
I like the idea behind this product but the problems I’ve had far overshadow this. It looks good, appears on it’s face to be well made and allows you to be creative in crafting your coffee.
Negative Product Points
I purchased a BES920XL two years ago. It went directly back to the company for repairs and was gone one month. It was returned, showing parts replacements and maintenance but still did not work properly. I have lived with the problems since then as sending it back was way too much trouble and I found ways to make the machine work but: I have never been able to get the pressure to 8 – 10 BAR range and have never been able to use the single wall double filter basket because pressure here never reaches 5 BAR. Last year it began tripping my 20A circuit breaker because of moisture leakage after brewing. Worked around this, because machine is out of warranty and repairs are estimated above $500. After making coffee, I drain all the steam out of the boiler and this stops the short most of the time. Yesterday, 3/16/21, the steam wand handle broke off. Actually, the Steam Dial Actuator broke at it’s attachment point. The replacement part, BES920XL09.4, is discontinued at Breville and can not be purchased anywhere as are most of the parts for this model. BEWARE!!!
