Stepping onto the Double Decker Bus has a very distinct effect on people. For children, it makes them feel like grown- ups. They get to be the captain of a vessel that only encourages their imagination. For people who are already grown up, it makes them feel like kids. However, regardless of age, the bus ignites something special in every customer who walks through those red doors and the result is always positive. A cozy red bus nestled into a cozy quaint town makes everyone feel at home. The vintage surroundings paired with organic Notorious Coffee Roasting Co’s coffees from all over the world and local desserts made with love is the recipe for one of Asheville’s most beloved staples.

This particular 1963 Lodekka model Double Decker bus came from Bristol, England where it performed its intended job as a public transportation vehicle in the 1960’s and 70’s. It wound up in Atlanta, Georgia in the 1970’s, where it not only took its passengers from point A to point B, but also claimed the reputation of a party bus. It finally landed in Asheville at 41 Biltmore Avenue in 1999 and has been a coffee shop ever since. With the Double Decker’s old age, a modest corner in an unparalleled town has become home. With every season, the carefully manicured patio brings an important personality to downtown Asheville. The décor is aged and refined on both decks. Upstairs seating is comfortable and will accommodate at least 25 people. It’s a great place to people watch and take in the view.  A beautiful maple tree rooted in the center of the Double Decker’s courtyard blushes orange and red in the fall and allows our soft fluffy snow to rest gently upon its limbs in the winter. As weather permits, we have occasional live performances by local and out of state musicians held in our courtyard or even upstairs in the bus. Sitting at a stone table, enjoying the notably eclectic music buzzing from one of many surround sound speakers is, to locals and tourists alike, a perfect way to spend an afternoon. Top that off with the peaceful sounds of water flowing from our three lovely fountains and your day is complete.
